A bite of the Arabic Culture - غندي امنية بقلبي

Through out the years, I've been learning little by little about this fascinating culture. I've met incredible middle eastern people who showed me their culture, customs, stories, synergies and made me love it as my own. I met them in different parts of the world, but unfortunately until this day I haven't visited yet any Middle Eastern or Arab country, which is on my loop.
Spain showed me a little bit of it, and I just stayed breath taken.

I woke up that day very early in the morning, I didn't want to make a long line, and ppl already advised me to be there early. My tickets were already purchased through the internet, so it was okay.
It seemed to be a cloudy day, but it really didn't matter as far as it wouldn't rain :) ..... got into the bus and arrived to the main entrance of La Alhambra :)

I walked through this way surrounded by trees, kind of like a forest, and then some simple old structures with some Arabic details started to appear.
The first building I saw and recognized was the Palace of Charles V, then I checked the Wine door which took me to The Alcazaba. I wanted to check then the Nazaries Palaces, but couldn't as I had to wait for my turn. Yup, you have a schedule. Mine was at 12:30, so I still had time. While doing so, I got a coffee and sat outside the small plaza and kept reading about the Alhambra. It was a cold day, but the sun started to appear, so it was the perfect scenery to enjoy the place and inform myself a bit more while reading. What a way to enjoy a book!

It was my turn to get into the Palaces, there was so many people inside (I wonder why they put schedules), but it was such an amazing place, full of incredible details, mosaics, Arabic scripts, gardens, fountains, and water, a lot of water.
Water that reflects the beautiful architecture of the place. It's such an amazing place!!
I kept walking and at some point I was by myself, and nobody around hahah (lost again?... perhaps... :P ).... but who wouldn't want to get lost in such an incredible place, still I decided to keep walking and it will take me to some point..... suddenly I saw a sign pointing the Generalife.  The Gardens were nice, but in my opinion there were prettier gardens an fountains inside the Palace, still worth the visit to both! :)

I walked on my way back, a curved way surrounded by trees and nature. Just be aware that some gypsies could appear on the way and try to give you herbs and get money from it... just say NO! :D ....
I was getting hungry, got something to eat at one of the Teterias from calle Elvira, checked around and then walked through this way that will take me to a place where I could see the Alhambra while the sun goes down, and it starts to light.

The nice guy from the hostel gave me some instructions on how to get to this place where I could get a better view of La Alhambra. I wanted to get there while the sun goes down.
Went up through Santa Ana Street, which is next to the river, and goes up to the hill.... Everything was fine, but when I turned to Paseo de los Tristes...Oh boy! the street was so steep, I could say 45 degrees maybe more :S .... LOL.... When I came back to the hostel I told the guy, Hey you didn't mention it was THAT steep.... and he said, well, I am glad you didn't fall! :S ... That was his answer!! hahaha
Anyway, I got into the San Nicolas viewpoint (mirador), where there were already few ppl, a couple playing some flamenco music with an acoustic guitar, some others selling craft and others just sitting waiting for the sun to go down, and for the Alhambra to light.
.... It was such an amazing view and just the perfect environment!!! Quite a perfect moment! :)

I stayed for a while taking some pics and enjoying the view, and then kept walking. On my way down there was a lot of ppl on the streets, and it was that there was going to be a parade for the Three Kings Day.  While walking around the main streets, it was like a big festivity, a lot of ppl with families and kids waiting for the carriages to pass and also trying to get candies. YES! The parade carriages were throwing candies for free! hahaa :P  I picked up some from the floor! :P :/
Mmmmm at some point I was getting a bit bored, so I decided to get back to Elvira street, around the teterias and check for some souvenirs.  I got into this place where a very nice Moroccan man attended me and started to talk a lot! LOL, but it was interesting 'cause he was telling me about Morrocco and why he was in Spain.

Anyway, we had a nice chat, and I bought him some Turkish Eyes.  Then he offered me some tea, and I thought it was okay 'cause I saw that on the Travel channel, so I accepted it, but apparently the tea was not to drink it in his location, but to meet at some teteria :S ... mmmmmm.... and he said, I could tell you there more about the Arabic culture, which I am very interested...... Well, the thing is that I was alone and I never show up in the place :S, maybe if I was with someone else, I would have showed up :S .... Ahhhhh

So instead of having tea, I just went back to my hostel as I was very tired and had to travel to Seville the next day.

Backpackers Posada de Colon - Granada
I arrived in Granada Late at night, Luckily it wasn't raining anymore by the time I was there. It was dark and almost nobody on the streets, I was a bit afraid to walk down the streets, but well, I had to find the hostel.
It's very close to Call de los Reyes Catolicos, and very centric to Cafes, Teterias, Main Attractions.

Anyways, to find the hostel was a bit tricky, but luckily an old man was very nice to offer and show me how to get to the place (People in Granada are just amazing! :) )

The place is an old Andalusian building, with several dorms. I stayed in a very cheap one, but that's 'cause there were 9 more ppl in the room. There was just 1 bathroom to share, but I woke up very early, so never had any issues with the bathroom schedules.

- Nice and Friendly Staff
- Free breakfast and free internet.
- They give you a Towel
- Safety looked okay
- No lockers, but I think there are small ones for value stuff.

The only thing is that in the lower bunk, there was this old man who just snored way too loud. So, I just couldn't sleep at all.
But if you have better luck ;) this is a place I would recommend for a very low budget :)
