Exploring B A R N A !
December 26, 2008
You know, through out the years ppl who know me have said that I would like Barcelona, that it's a city that fits me and I will really enjoy. I didn't know exactly what they meant, but hearing so many things about this place, I had to come and see it.
B A R C E L O N A
Is just an amazing place, so artistic, full of energy, with small streets from the XVIII century, and an environment that despite the rain you just want to keep walking in the place....
The next days I kept exploring it, but unfortunately it was a non stop raining..... It was raining so much, that I had to go back and change my whole entire cloth and shoes to get back again to the rain! hahah. .. It was just not going to stop me to enjoy Barna :)
Ahhhh rain rain go away! haha.....
But guess what, the day I was leaving to Amsterdam it didn't rain no more hahaha, so everybody was telling me that I attracted the rain somehow :P
Anyway, early in the morning we started walking, walking walking and more walking..... at the beginning I thought there were no metros in Bcn lol, but I guess walking is the best way to explore the place...... Although not the best idea when it's raining harsh!!!
Where I come from, there are no palaces or castles, so for me were one of the things I wanted to see. Walking down the cold streets and grey sky, something far away appeared, it was this beautiful structure of a palace, charming and elegant, quite magical. .... I was so excited to see Montjui.
As we were approaching it turned more attractive and I got so excited to see it closer (unfortunately the fountains were not on). Went all the way up, and also to the back part where the Olympic Games were taken in 1992. It was such a small place, couldn't believe everything took place in there.
The rain just got nuts!! it was very windy and cold so we decided to go back, but it was so strong that we had to get into the first place we saw just to wait till the rains calms down a bit.
After changing cloth and get dry, it was time to hit the streets again!! :), however this time we took the metro... I was thinking how different this metro is from the one in NYC or Baires, it was clean and so organized, and kept me warm from the cold rain heheh. ... So, we arrived close to La Sagrada Familia, this building that is everywhere and everybody talks about. To tell you the truth, I wasn't crazy to visit this place or Gaudi's art, but after I was explained, it really made sense and I even felt touched by it.
To see the church is quite impressive, the first thing that catches the attention is the magnitude of details that the building has, and if you pay more attention, you get to check how fruits, animals and the live of Christ is combined all together. Pretty impressive to tell you the truth.
The Building is not complete, as Gaudi's will, it should be completed just by the money of the community, and that's why it's taking ages :P, but it's taking shape.
Keeping our way we took the metro close to what Park Güell should be, but seems that we got lost in the way and never found some sort of electric stairs that would walk us up, and we went all the way from the back where there was some sort of a forest lol, and we had to walk the hill up. ... quite a walk up plus the rain joining us... I just wanted to find the famous park :P
When we arrived there weren't much ppl around, as it was getting dark and it was still raining. Of course, we were all wet, but never mind hahaha it took us quite a time to find the park and quite a walk as well :P ..... It's like a small ginger cookie town, with mosaics and structures inspired in nature. Gaudi was quite a Stone man! ahhaaha :P, but very ahead for his time :)
The night came and it wasn't raining anymore so we walked back home, bought some dinner and get some rest.
