Below zero in Paris with R and Jegzi
January 1, 2009
I arrived almost at midnight, and while walking down the streets trying to find my hostel, the fireworks started ......... mmmm Okay 2009 has arrived! hahaha.... I kept walking and travesties were saying Happy New Year to me from their windows hahaha.... ppl were screaming on the streets, everybody was saying Hi and happy new years.... they were all just celebrating! .... and me, I just wanted to find my hostel! hahaha :P
I finally found it, it was this nice place with a huge party inside! hahaha... The staff were very nice and helpful and the hostel is one of the best I've ever been! St Christopher's Paris Hostel (highly recommended).
I stayed around for a while and then knocked into bed.
The next day, I met the guys early in the morning and we walked to Eiffel Tower. I was very happy to see them again :), while walking, while Jegzzii enjoyed the train that was passing through hehe, R took cans of beer from the magic bag, some Kielbasa and bread! .... Way to go you guys!! It was our small NYE Celebration!!!... :D It was my first time having homemade Kielbasa and it was just DELICIOUS!!! I loved it!!!. I mean, what else you can ask for!!! Eiffel Tower, Beer, Kielbasa and two crazy Tbs!! :D ..... Such a unique New Years! :D
Okay here I will make a parenthesis, as the kids have been arguing about the last phrase I wrote Hahaha, so to make it clear, R invited the Beers and Jegzi (who was carrying the bag lol) invited the homemade Kielbasa made by his friend. Oh and they also had baguette, so it was some sort of a walking picnic around Eiffel Tower! :D . ... THANK YOU GUYS!!! You Rock! :D
We kept walking around, fooling around, and the guys just had a couple of hours before they had to leave and take their plane to Madrid. We walked around a street where there are several restaurants, and stopped at a 10 Euros menu place. It was the best menu deal ever in Paris!!! We sat next to the window, and for some reason lots of tourists stopped by to take a pic with the entrance of the restaurant.... Obviously, my dearest Tbs thought it was 'cause they were inside and 'cause everything works around them!! LOL (rolling eyes big time!! hahaha)
SO, the food was really good, such as scallops, onion soup, crepes, meat with mushrooms, chicken and even dessert!! We ate pretty well that day. Actually, I could say it was one of the best meals I had in my whole entire trip :P. It was also the first time Jegzzii was trying scallops and boy he really liked them! hahaha
After the great meal, great laughs, pics, the guys had to leave :( , so it was our see ya soon. I really enjoyed their company, and knew I was going to see them in a couple of days in Barna, still I felt sad. Anyways, we took our last pic of the day, said bye and I still had the rest of the day to explore Paris.
From this point it was me and my map together!!! :) ... I wanted to check first Notre Dame, I mean how hard could be to find it?? hmmmm a bit hard if you are getting to the wrong direction of the Seine! hahaha .... BUT realized on time and got back! hahaha... (maybe my map was upside down, who knows! lol) .... So, I checked around Notre Dame, and then kept going to some direction I wasn't sure, I just lost myself a bit and let myself go as I was delightful by every single detail in Paris. Then I was on my way to check the Louvre, by the time I arrived there the cold was just soo intense, but it was a long walk to do through the rest of the afternoon, so I thought that could keep me warm..... Yeah! didn't work! ... I really enjoyed walking through the Tuileries Gardens, but everything was frozen. My naive idea to sit on a bench, have a coffee, read and enjoy the environment, was way too far from reality!!! LOL .... I was seriously a Frozen Chicken!!! .... But, I kept going all the way down, everything was so beautiful to let it go. I kept walking and at some point I saw the light.... It was a Metro!!! hahah. I decided to get in to warm a bit and took a ride to the Arc de Triomphe. I was impressed by the blue lightning, R recommend it to go at night, and it was a great thing to do!. On the pics the sky even looks blue, but it was actually pretty dark, it's just the thousands of blue lights lightning the place. To continue enjoying the view, I decided to walk back through Camps-Elysées, mmmm as much as I would like to shop, that was almost impossible! hahahaha :P and luckily the stores were kind of closing, so that was a good sign :)
At some point I found another metro, took it to get some hot soup and get back to the hostel. Once I arrived to the hostel, the staff told me that it was almost in -7C!!.... Yeah I definitely felt that. I was starting to feel very warm, I think I had some fever, but didn't have any other cold symptom, so I just took a pill and went to bed. Through the next days I felt the same warm feeling, but I think it was just that my body was not used to so much cold.
