Moving my daughter to San Diego

Good morning! Meeting her at her dad's house...

I left Friday morning at 8:15am with a carload of my daughter's (DisneyGirlPrincess) belongings to move her to San Diego, where she plans to go to school next semester.  She followed 2 hours behind me with another carload of stuff and her dad 2 hours after that with a truckload of stuff.  I wanted to get an early start to avoid L.A. traffic as much as possible.  I arrived in San Diego city limits 7 hours and 45 minutes later at straight up 4:00pm and headed straight for Pacific Beach at the hotel (515 miles later) where I was staying so I could see the sunset.  I love the ocean, but don't get to see it very often since I live 2 hours inland, so I was so excited to see the ocean and feel the sand between my toes again!  The sunset was gorgeous and it was a balmy 60ish degrees or warmer even on the beach, unlike the 35 when I left home that morning.

The dogs will miss her
After I watched the sunset, I went to my room and unpacked, wandered around and waited for the call from my daughter that she was arriving at her new place.  Then I headed over there (La Jolla was about 10 mins away) to see her new home for the next ? years.

Once we arrived, we checked everything out.  The place was a semi disaster zone! :-)  I don't know how 4 girls are going to live there, but I guess they'll figure it out.  Anyway, after unloading the 2 cars, we (Ashley, her friend Kayla, and me) headed out to find food.  I was thinking, yay, this is the last time I have to pay for her meals, hehe. :-)  We went to California Pizza Kitchen and got takeout since the wait was 40 mins and headed back to the condo again.  Then I left to go back to the hotel and get a good night's sleep since I was driving back home the next day.

Mostly packed up

The next morning, I watched the surfers for awhile, checked out of the hotel, and went to find a Starbucks for breakfast (okay, THIS was the last time I would have to buy food for her!)  I got some breakfast and coffee for us, then headed back to the condo.  After breakfast, it was time to say goodbye.  This was really happening now...I started thinking, ''I don't care if I have to buy her food forever, I don't want her to actually STAY here and not come home...omg, what am I going to do without my baby girl that's not a baby anymore?!''  Lots of hugs and tears later, I finally had to go.  Fortunately, I was on my way to meet Joy, Rob, Alice, Tracy, and Angelica for lunch in Pasadena, so I was able to keep my mind off of saying goodbye and stay focused on finding my way through the maze of highways to where we were meeting (thank goodness for GPS, unless there are the same addresses in 2 cities twenty minutes apart!)  But that's the next story.

It will be difficult, but as Alice said your baby girl will have a new chapter - just like you will!
