Today was a better than yesterday!! I was up early this morning. I got up at 6:00am and left the hotel by 7:15am. I picked Scott up and headed to McDonald's for some breakfast. Then we were on our way up to the mountains.
Our first stop is Blowing Rock, North Carolina. A great little town with shops and restaurants. We walked the sidewalks taking pictures of the old buildings and parks. It was Sunday and early in the morning and there were few people about. We spent about 45 minutes in town and we were off to our next destination. The snow was really falling up in the mountains.
We drove onto the Blue Ridge Parkway and headed south towards the Linn Cove Viaduct.
We continued on to our next place of interest Sugar Mountain Ski Area. It being a three weekend because of MLK Day and it was snowing, the parking lot was full. We decided not to get into all the traffic. We decided to leave and head back to Blowing Rock for lunch. We stopped for lunch at the Six Pence Restaurant and Pub.
We made back to Scott's house without any problems. We walked the dog and looked at some more pictures. It seems that we were hungry all the time and decided to get some dinner early and that I had to be up at 3:00am to turn in my rental car and get to the airport to catch my flight at 6:00am. I wish I had some more time because we both were having a great time. We went to restaurant close to his house called Firebirds. We tried last night to eat here but it was a 90 minute wait. The interior was beautiful inside consistent with that of a rustic log lodge. The prices were on the exspensive side but we started with some Coconut Shrimp in a habinero sauce. BAMM!! He ordered an awesome steak burger loaded with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and onions. And I had wood grilled salmon with steam veggies and real mashed pototoes. Both of our dishes were delicious. The brought a fresh loaf of bread with butter to eat with your meal. Michelle was our waitress and did a fantastic job taking care of us!!
We headed back to the house and I headed back to my hotel. What a great city. I have throughly enjoyed myself and it has been great seeing my old friend again. Looking forward to coming back!!
