As I figured, the alarm went off way too early! LOL. We got ready and hurried out in the cold to meet up with Bart, Lynn, and Julie to do the Anne Frank House. We arrived just a couple minutes behind schedule and only Bart was there. Soon Lynn appeared and now only Julie was missing..uh oh! We called a couple times but got her vm and then she called back just as we were getting to the ticket window. Brett joked that she just didn't want to wait out in the cold! HAHA.
No photos were allowed in the Anne Frank House but I definitely recommend visiting if you are in town and have the time. It was a very education and enlightening experience.
After that, Lynn was not feeling too well still and opted to go back and rest in the hotel otherwise she would never make another all night party! Julie, Bart, Brett, and I decided to still head to the Van Gogh museum.
The line for the Van Gogh museum was CRAZY and it seemed like forever we stood in the horrid weather which included a bit of snow. Tiny Thomas met up with us and lucky Bart went on in as he already had the museum card. We finally got inside and it was PACKED. Again, no photos...GRRRR! Don't these places know they are messing with my ability to get Photographer V?!?! HAHA.
I was excited to finally visit the Van Gogh museum although poor Brett is not a huge fan and has already been there probably numerous times but thanks anyway honey for indulging me! :-) After figuring out several times we missed exhibits, we continued on and checked stuff out again, all the while I hear Brett behind me, "Oh look, another bowl of potatoes!" :-/
While we were finishing up, one of the other TB's from London, was calling Brett to meet up.
We said bye to Thomas and Julie and turns out Matt was staying in our same hotel so the three of us took the tram back to take a little nap before we had to get ready.
Brett and I tried to make reservations at the hotel restaurant which was apparently booked for NYE and we got a recommendation to an Italian place down the street so we opted for that. After a very short nap, it was time to get ready and head out for our dinner reservation. Julie was going to meet Thomas, and Brett's other friends Ryan and Melissa in Leidseplein for dinner so I felt good she was not alone and would have help in getting to the party. I woke up from the nap feeling horrible and honestly did not want to go to the NYE party at that point. Brett was being slightly difficult and refused to go without me so I went ahead and got up, pushing myself to go because I didn't want to ruin his NYE and obviously I really didn't want to miss the party.
We arrived at our dinner reservations a few minutes late and they were busy, but not overly packed. Shortly after we arrived they started to fill up and you could tell they were trying to rush you through. This was the first place we had been the whole trip that brought the check before we even asked. They were trying to clear our dishes and we had not even really finished. We had each ordered a glass of wine with our meals although neither of us really felt like drinking and ironically, they ended up being the biggest glasses I've seen and I couldn't even finish half of it I felt so icky. :-( Although we were somewhat rushed and I was not feeling good, it was a nice meal and I had a wonderful time celebrating my first New Year's Eve with Brett so far!
Ok, off to find a cab now and head down to the Javakade for the big party.
