Breakfast in Bed?!?! Well....Almost! :D
Julie, Lynn, and I had talked the boys into agreeing to cook breakfast for us in the morning after our long venture back from country hopping before we headed out to Amsterdam for all the New Years festivities. Lynn was adamant she needed at least 8-10 hours sleep so she took the cot in the spare bedroom and James slept on the other air matress out in the living room with Julie. All I know is Brett and I went to bed and at 3:30am - Julie and James were both still up online playing on Facebook and TravBuddy! NUTS! LOL.
And like clockwork, James woke up early and Brett did as well. The boys of course disturbed poor Julie and then scurried off to the grocery store to get food. Talk about the blind leading the blind...
the boys came back and James confessed that Brett was a little lost in the store! LOL. His excuse was never being to that particular store before...uh huh....suuuurreee!Poor Brett - out he pulls one half dozen eggs...now, in his defense - Brett doesn't eat eggs so he doesn't really cook with them. I laughed and said you plan on feeding 4 of us with 6 eggs?!?! So, omlettes were out and I suggested perhaps scrambled with milk to make the eggs go a little further - which milk in the eggs is always a good thing anyways. We put James in charge of the eggs although Brett did try to crack them which provided laughter in itself. Brett cooked the bacon and and handled the mimosas which of course were pretty strong since he has a heavy pouring hand! LOL.
A few minutes later, we were enjoying freshly cooked bacon, scrambled eggs, toast with awesome jam I had previously bought out there and then mimosas. YEAH baby! Brett made a grilled cheese sandwich and then the chaos of getting ready began! James said we needed to be out by a certain time in order to meet some people in Amsterdam and yeah.....5 people getting ready in one bathroom (3 girls) we were a little behind schedule! :-)
We headed downstairs and began the laborious task of trying to pack the car which would've been no problem but now Brett and I both had luggage and we had food/wine we had brought with us for pre or post parties! Gotta plan ahead.
After stuffing Julie and I in the car with luggage on laps and around our feet - we fit everything in and James didn't have to ride on the roof! Good thing as it was really icy that day! Brett tried drawing a heart on the windshield with the ice scraper and while it was pretty crooked, it was a super sweet sentiment!
Amsterdam - here we come!
