The adventure of (yet un-named ) the gnome begins !

last leg of Bolivia

Our last leg in Bolivia we managed to get in to Lake titikaka, and I must sy what a difference form what we had seen so far.. finally some green areas, trees and of course the lake..

We had not booked a Hotel but found a cheap alternative to hostels which are plenty here but lots of them are rather poorly conditions..

We took a day trip tp island the sol

Sadly the museum on the north site which was opened in early 90 had not seen any improvement since and most looks sad in its presentation.

Of course again people offer there “services” at first to everyone to get around but then ask for “collaborations” canning really in a way..

The island is nice but be carefull all though it is cool here the sun is merciless, there some of the traditional boats around for bigger tour operators and the isla flotante.

.

Actually funny we where to stop at one and had the chance to go off the boat for 5 Boliv$ but what else could you see then not form the boat? So no one did get off our boat..

There are tourist joking around about the 5Boliv$ as it seem to be the standard thing here anything cost you a min of 5$

We too did the climb the local hill its steep, the top offers a lovely sight over the town and part of the Lake.

Next day our trip in to Cusco. But before we got ready for the trip we noticed lots of people did head along the lake front to a meeting point so we followed them.. a big parade of people, lining the street with flowers so I knew there is something special going to happen.. I asked some people and found out the President of Bolivia would arrive shortly to give a speech here!!!

So we stayed on to await he’s arrival.

He flew in with a chopper then a car ride to the lake front.. people threw flower peoples over him  and gave him a big reception we heard about the importance of tourism in Bolivia and it is the 3 most income for Bolivia.. makes you wonder though why in so many areas tourism or “services” are not really looked at. It appeared to me in many places as if the people did not care for us or worth not even liked us to be there  it bordered them to assist us or give us something in return for our $$$ we entered several restaurants or hotels unattended. Infra structure in so many areas are more then questionable so if it is such a big thing for the country would it not be time for some improvement?
