The adventure of (yet un-named ) the gnome begins !

back to big city life

La Paz, what a city…. It is true it is hard to get lost in this city as in the middle runs a river and on both sites the mountains climb steeply

We Had the pleasure to meet up with a other Travbuddy member Jose took some time out of he’s work schedule to have a quick drink with us and offer some ad vice on the city!

He is a interesting Man and I would have like dot spend more time getting to know him more. Maybe some time in the future!

Giao however still had been affected by the altitude and I actually insisted to see a medical center to get oxygen for her to feel better..(hmm a bit ripped off as the person on the front desk told us 40 Boliv for 1 hour Oxygen but the doc took 100$ of us)

2nd day we opt to explore the local ruins – so we took a local bus form the cemetery to Tiwanaku.

Entry fee to the park is 80 Boliv. As soon you get in your greeted by “wanna be” tour guides who offer there services for a fee of 60-80 Boliv.  But again problem – no English…there is not really any map offered to navigate around yourself. There 2 “museums” one host several pottery, skulls, textiles and silver objects.

On the park you can walk around the pyramid and some other part – sadly no info in English, the joke of it however is the 2nd museum as it has only 1 out of 6 room open with 1 “monolito” in to sure it is the main attraction of it but……a bit disappointing to say the least.

Again the town is very cold dusty and rough.

Since the problem with altitude did not improve we opt to keep on going to our next destination – lake Titicaca.
