The adventure of (yet un-named ) the gnome begins !

Puerto Natales

The getaway to torres del paine.

We did not have any reservations for any accommodation and it turned out to be a bit tricky to find a good place. However we then just took the first possible place not even looking how good or bad it was and then kept on looking for the next day for a nice place.

The town is virtually littered with plenty of hostels and B&B’s however not all are really that good.

It is important to have heating in the room or at least in the house, which we did not have for the first night.

Plenty of people form the hiking return tired, exhausted, wet and ready to crash some warm place, so it might be good to get a place in advance.

One thing noticeable there all over dogs running the town, the mountain ranges in clear view.

I too noticed Chilean’s do like there sweets, which was nice as I love pastries!! Yummy!

We only stayed in Puerto Natales 3 days as our plan was to get down to Ushuaia to look for cheaper trips in to Antarctic.

Just enough time though to get a day trip to the torres by bus..I know it’s a “slack ass” approach not climbing the mountains but…no thanks but no..

When we did do the trip we where taking a few short hikes and I tell you the wind was blowing like mad hard to keep walking without getting blown around, the gust stirred up water from the lake and spayed us full with icy water..so I was glad we did not do any more hiking.
