Puerto Montt - Puerto Natales
Today we set sail on a 4 day cruise through the fiords of Patagonia, from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales
We are boarding, or at least drop off our luggage in the morning and return after lunch to finally get on our way. The staff had placed our things in the beads and we just need to walk on board without any hassle.
It’s going to be a nice 4 days with all the food included, some films and talks about the area included.
Berth was 510 US $ which I think is not to bad and the beads are like in a Train to block out any light
First 2 days where nice and we had good weather sun, no bad seas just right.
However after getting in to the pass del penas which takes a 12 hour trip in to the ocean, plenty of people retired to their cabins or beads to relax " let us put it this way.
3rd night we had bingo night and some kind of party We did not take part as my better half felt a bit down and “ooze”
We got more wind and rain as the days progressed sadly it made the stay outdoors a bit harder and less comfortable and cold.
So bring a hat and rain coats. Still we had good views of the fiords, especially some of them where as narrow as only 80m.
The captain took us close up to a glacier where the wind was blowing like mad.
Wildlife we came across included sea lions, dolphins, penguins and plenty of other sea birds. Some of us where lucky enough to manage and see the “spray” of a blue whale close by however we were not allowed to get closer just passing by.
Finally arriving in the early afternoon in Puerto Natales and the getaway to the torres del paine|
