Escaped the
Well hello San Francisco.
we managed to get a lovely Hotel, it would have been the Encore Express Hotel which works together with Nob Hill Hotel, and our online booking had breakfast and on suit, but the Encore does not have it so we got “upgraded”..(http://travel.nextag.com)
arrived just after midnight and took the BART Train to Civic Center /a bit confusing I must say, when buying tickets you need to check how much the trip would cost, then subtract any change of the amount you put in the machine….) walked uphill to the hotel..just to get to bed
First day ..ooohh its cold here and bloody windy and we hear all over the news about the “swine Flu” and we just got here form Mexico. .lol
Anyhow we had to pick up our tickets to Alcatraz as we going to meet up with Tb members on Sat. so a walk through China town to Pier 33/39 as they say if you can’t find it in china town you don’t need it..passing by “stinking Rose’ and the coit tower
And we had to find a new purse for Giao (she lost it in Galapagos- lucky not much $$ in it)
We had lunch in china town and I must say was funny to see Giao thanking a Chinese guy in Spanish for helping her out with a plate for the buffet…. A Vietnamese girl thanks in Spanish a chines guy?????
Day 2. Yummy breakfast bagels with cream, but once again a cold day out there…going down Downtown Market street and a bit of retail shopping tour and too to get out of the cold on the streets. Still had not found a cute watch for Giao..mine gave up in LA just after leaving aussi but I just got a cheapy then. . Giao likes to get a “good” one not just any cheapy.
Interesting food court at Westfield shopping center.
Day 3. Once again a walk through the city this time we planed to see the “crooked street” and take a cable car ride…funny the crooked street is full of tourists and we ran in to a group from France who broke out in songs ….keep walking downhill to the marine museum and to the chocolate factory for some free samples.. only in peanut butter filling sadly…then hopping on the cable care to cross back to Market street and some “shopping”
Day 4; today finally a bit warmer , so we heading to the Golden Gate Park and “Height Ashbury” Giao wanted to look it up and it was on the way anyhow…taking the bus line from Market street
We too got to book our next trip to Vancouver with a stop over in Seattle and then the cruise to Anchorage , so yea we got our next 4 weeks planed
Day 5; TB meet up @ Alcatraz and later on for dinner and drinks
