Cusco - peru
Getting in to Cusco early morning after a harsh times in Bolivia.. after getting in the hostel we had some rest .
What a difference from other places seen so far in South America, one can surly see how much more it is directed towards tourism everywhere people offer things to sell to you..even which I found funny I got offered a few times “massage” services even though I was walking with my girl friend and no one asked her… don’t girls normally don’t like more to get special treatment??? Or is it somehow different??? Lol
Anyhow we are here just to go and see machu Piccu so we looked around to find a trip. Hiking was out of the question.. as well there had not been any tickets for it anyhow. . so we opt for a tour bus and train .. the city is littered with tour operators offering the same deal, but which to select? I thought I made the right question and had the operator write all conditions down on the booking.. but when collected the next morning no guide on board.. when we got to Hydro electric we got asked who had booked the train – well I did but the guy did not buy our ticket so we had to walk the 3 hours to aguas calentes I was pretty upset and not a happy to say the least and our waling took us in the dark with no light on a track we did not know and no one there to direct us. After getting in to town we where not sure which was our hotel/ where we had to meet the guide but we manage to find all. However when I confronted the guid he just walked out of us and told us we had to look for our own guide .. headache after headache…
Anyhow we managed to get next day early to head up to the machu piccu by bus.
The troubles where worth it.. beautiful sight. one thing wonders me though there so many tourists (up to 4000 daily) why do so many do not border to respect the nature of this sight.. respect the country they visit by littering all over.. al though people do the best to keep it clean I still saw some plastic stuffed between some stones. On the train back young people littering al over the train without taking there trash away… do they really have to treat the country as a trash can????
After getting back Cusco we had some words with our tour operator and I got him to refund me the trip for the train and some compensations for a 3 hr walk in the dark..
Next day we headed further - originally we thought we would stop in Nasca but when we got there it looked rather “plain” dessert like so we just kept going to Lima to meet up with some of TB friends.
