Woke up (of my own free will!) at 7:30 a.m. though I didn’t have a clue what the time was (Didn’t see a clock until the hostel kitchen that morning, was taking punts at the time based on flight time)  Having always experienced communal showers at hostels, I gathered up my bathroom gear and went looking for the shower, only to be told by a nice German girl (Jeanette, spelling?) that they are back in the bedroom (hello Mcfly!)  So I locked away the gear in one of the small valuables lockers, grabbed the daypack and launched on out to the world of “my tour package is the best on the island, honest it is!”

Some quick Honolulu observations, crossings aren’t crossings as I know them, beware pedestrians, there’s a LOT of limosines, they seem to act as taxis for those who want to spend a bit more.

Place stayed: USA Honolulu-Waikiki Hostel 2417 Prince Edward St Honolulu HI 96815  (YHA special)  Good place about 2 blocks back from Waikiki beach

OK, writing this in hindsight since it’s been about a day and a half since my last diary-work.  The end of the Oahu bus tour wasn’t as good as the start, they finished up at a pineapple plantation, not a real highlight (called Dole something or rather?). But Sunset beach was spectacular, would love come back and see some big-wave surfing.  So once the tour was all over, made a quick journey to the beach to watch the sunset before making it back to the Hostel to take up Jeanette’s offer to join her and her friends for shopping.  It was absolutely brilliant meeting up with half a dozen random strangers to wander the streets of Waikiki. Had some hijinks wandering through the international market then grabbed some Baskin Robbins ice cream (was next to that landmark ‘ABC stores’ there’s millions of them!) and then grabbed some Heinikens and sat on Waikiki beach for a few hours.
