Quiet rainy day, so spent it catching up on the diary and trying to get tickets for Hamilton Bulldogs hockey Game 7 (the championship game in the AHL, one step below the NHL). After many attempts to get 2 tickets, suddenly two became available in an awesome spot. Made it to the hockey! They’ve got these things called thundersticks to applaud with, which are basically two hollow plastic tubes which make a huge racquet when you bang them together. By chance the 2 tickets that had become available were row 5!!!!! Absolutely incredible view. It was well worth the one and a half hour drive south.
They have an incredible light/laser show before the game then have such entertainment as firing a bazooka of subway sandwiches in to the crowd, and getting the crowd to throw pucks in to the rink to see who gets closest to the centre.
Had a bizarre experience as we were leaving. We had parked on a nearby suburban street a few minutes walk from the stadium, and as Pat went to start the car, heard the familiar sound of a flat battery. So just as we were about to go knocking on doors for some help, a guy in the house right next to us walked out as if he was about to drive off in his car, we called him over and he kindly gave us a jumpstart, but then he just parked in his driveway and went back inside. I think he was there just to help us.
