We got up early for our lift to the slow boat pick up point  and at around 11am the boat left for the first nighs stop at Pak Beng.We were lucky as we got to the boat early and managed to get all the comfortable seats.Get in! But as comfortable as they were it didnt help much in making the journey that comfortable.

The journey could of been nice on a slightly nicer a less cramped boat, but then what do you expect from Laos, not much. We were on the boat around 6 hours on the first day and we were glad to get to Pak Beng.

We arrived in Pak Beng at 5pm and whilst stacey and Mike( one of the guys we met on the boat) went to get some accomodation, the rest of us got the bags from the boat.Actually having to fight off local boys for our own bags, these children there were so inbred you could tell that they werent use for many things apart from sitting in fields and waving a planes. Maybe it would be good if they presented a few of the local women at the boat port and asked some of the backpackers to help boost the gene pools, im sure there would be a few that would oblige.

We got some really cheap accomodation for 25,000 a night(2 quid) and had a few beers with dinner, the only downside was was the electricity went off at 11.30pm thus making me sweat all night without a fan!
