Wet in Singapore

Singapore Travel Blog › entry 3 of 19 › view trip summary

I found myself wandering around my neighboring countries again, savoring its magic&charm. W/ MJ, we strolled the streets of Singapore, KL, Penang, Bangkok, Lopburi and Ayutthaya, while I’ve gone solo in Vientiane. At the end of it all, I got sensory overload w/ new&exotic flavors, old&distinct scents, stunning architecture&historical landmarks, loud&quiet sounds, busy&serene air – but still I want MORE. I simply can’t get enough of Asia.

Second day in Singapore, we availed our extra day access of Singapore Duck Tours’ Hop On-Hop Off.  (Yes, we are suckers for freebies & discounts!)

We planned to hop off to places we failed to visit yesterday, like the Raffles Hotel and other historical sites and landmarks.

But the weather wasn’t very cooperative this time around.  It rained almost the entire day.  :(  But this did not stop us to get closer to Singapore’s founder – Sir Stamford Raffles - standing tall in front of the Victoria Theater.  We’re prepared to get wet for him.

The rain finally stopped and it was near sunset so we hurried ourselves to Clarke Quay to have one last ride of the river cruise and see how the river transforms at night.  Clarke Quay is gorgeous at night!  The old style building with its bright colors plus the lights reflected in the river made me fall in love with the river.  Then there’s this bridge where everybody’s PDA; damn I miss my BFF and ka-churvaness ever.

I never thought I would enjoy my stay in Singapore.  This small country might be too artificial but it still maintained its old charm.  Singapore is exciting with a fusion of old and new.

I wished I could stay longer with the river but we got a bus to catch later that night, so after a sumptuous dinner by the river, we went back to our hostel and prepared ourselves for another adventure that awaited us.  KL here we come!
