Before I start, I need to stress that is Holy Island isn't a reglious meeting place or anything its just a name (strange name) but a name its been give. Some people were giving me strange looks thinking I was going to pray or something in this place. I also found out there is a Holy Island on the Isle of Arran......but this wasn't the one I visited!!

So... I went to Lindisfarne which is a tidal island off the north-east coast of England also known as Holy Island because I was fascinated with its causeway as it connects the island to the mainland of Northumberland and flooded twice a day by tides. When I was talking to the local pub owner, funnily enough he  says not a lot of people are aware that the island is controlled by the twice daily tides.

The Causeway
....how? I dont have a clue cause that was one of the main attractions for me!

Anyway, had a great time. Was only there for the day. I took me just over 2hrs to drive there and we arrived just after 12noon because the tide was out from 11.55am onwards. Arrived, parked and got wandering. Not a lot to see because we found out in January most places were shut, so we headed straight for the local pub (for tea honest!) to get a heat because the temperature was around -5 - it was unbelieveable!

After that headed to the castle..fair walk but crackin views. Got there and see the castle was closed :( but still walked around and got some good photos which you can see. At about 3pm we decided to head and try and get some tea again so went to a wee tea shop and stocked up!

I tell you I totally fell in love with the causeway..totally awesome! :))
