Then at 1430 we went and did one of most amazing things I have ever done. We booked ourselves on the Volcan Pacaya tour. We took a bus for about 90 minutes up a mountain, then got out and had a guide bring us another hour up the mountain to see the volcano. Volcan Pacaya had become active two months prior and lava was coming down its side. We then proceeded to hike up the actual volcano over the black rock. As we got closer to the top the heat was almost unbearable. I felt like we were in an extremely hot sauna. I got so close to the lava that I could have reached out and touched it. Unbelievable... Oh, and we also took out some bread and toasted it on the burning rocks and then passed it around.
That night we hung out and drink some Gallo, a local lager. We started to get hungry so we went out for ¨chinese food¨which actually turned out not to be so bad. I tried another beer, Moza a dark bock beer, which was more to my liking.
We then headed home and packed up our stuff for the journey to Lake Atitlan the next day.
Many more Photos to come...
