Going for a day trip to the Hot Springs of Banff, Alberta, Canada
Dan and I took off around 12pm, from Calgary, with a co-worker of Dan's and my youngest daughter to experience the Hot Springs in the frigid winter of Banff Alberta. What an experience, to be in the bitter cold and wearing my swimsuit; I must have been crazy LOL.
The winds were the 'gustiest' I have ever experienced and with our car being moved 'slightly' (lol) by the winds I held tight to the door of our car with my camera in my left hand of course ... I couldn't stop taking photos of the majestic beauty that the Rocky Mountains brings, as we drove towards Canmore and then onto Banff
An elk carcus lay in the ditch and Dan's colleague immediately became intoxicated with the thought of seeing any LIVING animal (but in this case it was dead); for he began to think and ponder if and when he'd have the chance to return where ".
.. the best hunting grounds ..." would be?On the other hand, Dan and I were just looking forward to the Hot Springs but I was also wondering how we'd get from the building to the Springs with it being so cold and with icy snow all over ...
We finally went through the toll booth "$19.00 please" the lady asked us, to enter into the Rocky Mountains and before I knew we were there at the Hot Springs in Banff, Alberta, Canada ... steam was everywhere!
Inniatially it felt so hot, well the water today was at +39 degrees celcius and with the outside temperature being -28 degrees celcius, OUCH, the first time I stepped into the Hot Springs I just about felt like I had boiled my feet off ... I finally adjusted to the water's temperature and gradually went outside staying in the HOT STEAMY WATER ... Dan's hair, from the steam, frooze over ... I thought I better not go under, all I need is a head full of ICE lol
Do go in the summer or winter ... but the real experience of HOT SPRINGS is experiencing it in the WINTER months!!!!!!
