I am continuing this for 31st Dec ... into 1st Jan because it was really just one looong day and I decided to split it at the important juncture of the start of the party :)
Got to the venue at around 22:30 or so and I checked in with our wonderful host Ana, got my special TB button and signed the souvenir t-shirt. So enter the BOOT, almost everyone I knew from before was already there. So I warmed up with a couple of beers and getting greetings and hugs from all the usual suspects :-) Said my hellos to most of the folks I hadn't met before, more were pouring in ofcourse. So many new faces and names, I think after half hour I had forgotten almost half of the names already.
Soon the deck started to thin out as ass-temperature dropped further :D The music was really thumpin inside and it was time again to "shake it shake it shake it like a polaroid picture"! By this time everyone was "comfortably drunk (numb)" and the energy in the room had really picked up. It was getting a bit crazy already, with weird posing and the papparazzi fervently trying to capture every bit of insanity on tape! Somewhere after 1 am, we were told that we could rock on only till 4am... *only* haha, hey thats enough for most people I think.
There were quite a few people still dancing till shortly before 4am, and towards the end there was some rock instead of club kinda music. Nice!! what better way to end a party than with some kinda head banging :) Anyway, most everyone was content to stop at 4am, sapped of energy and running on pure adrenaline by that time. Started to organize things a bit, amidst questions of "hey is there an after-party... and where is it?" :) I think the last group finally emptied out the BOOT at around 4:30 and walked our way variously to the hotel/centraal station.
Only a few hours of sleep and I struggled up at 10 to barely get some breakfast, then cleanup a bit, catch a short powernap and clear out of the hostel at 11am. I wandered around, initially along the canal near Leidseplein, near the museum, then further on to the flower market, up Rokin and Damrak to Centraal station. Some of the other travbuddies were planning to go for a city tour later on, but I was a bit eager then to get to Frank's place in Rotterdam where I could relax a bit. I took some time to figure out the simplest way to get me a ticket and get on the way to Rotterdam. I wanted to take the intercity, but that got changed around a bit and I barely made it into the other intercity going to Rotterdam central.
