Dar Es Salaam airport
December 21, 2008
We arrived in the airport 10.35 pm and had a quick check up of our passports and identified our luggage. Afterwards we went outside the airport to have a bit of fresh air. We got in contact with a friendly woman sitting with her sleeping child on the stairs. She told us a little bit of Zanzibar. We were very tired and entered the airport again, dreaming of a nice bed. The airport in Dar es Salaam is very small. After having eaten we went to sleep on the bench. Luckily there were not so many people, so there was one bench left for us to sleep. Very early next morning an airport staff member woke us up at 4 am and asked us where we were going. He asked for our ticket and luggage labels and told us that he will be back soon. The guy simply disappeared with our ticket and was gone for quite a while. After about one hour and there was about half an hour until our departure with Flight PW 711 Precision Air to Zanzibar I got very impatient and went downstairs and explained them the situation. Don't worry madame, you will get your ticket.Just do the last security check. I explained him that there is apparently a difference in the interpretation of the word "soon" in Tanzania and Denmark:):)
Anyway we did the last security check and after 10 minutes the guy came with our ticket. I told him in a friendly way that it would be wise to inform people for how long time they disappear with the tickets.
The airplane to Zanzibar was very small and the flight only took 20 minutes.
