the first of many today
Ya know, it's nice to have a state job and get all these extra holidays. I think that was the worst part about working retail. I had Christmas Day and Easter off and that's it. Ok, so it's time for another adventure with Sarah. We did not bring the dogs this time....given the puking in the car incident the last time we went to Shanendoah. And since we didn't have the dogs, we decided to go on one of the trails that does not allow pets. I am so out of shape! I was exhuasted by the end of the hike back to the car. ...of course I was also carrying a pack of camera gear. Towards the end, Sarah was getting so annoyed with me being slower that she took the pack and it was so much easier to get up the hill. I was able to trot up the rest of the way.
getting the shot
It was a little embarrasing that much older people were passing me by.
Dark Hollow Falls trail is listed as strenuous difficulty (so its not just my lazy ass). There are so many good spots to stop along the trail to take pictures or just rest. This trail was pretty busy on the day that we went. Several people were trying to get good shots of the big falls and since I don't like people in my pictures...we did not get very many. Oh, and there are warning signs for your safety! Once we got to the falls, we continued on a little ways down the Hogcamp Branch that runs along the water until we got tired and decided to head back. I really wished I lived closer to the park so that I didn't have to drive so far everytime I want to go hiking there.
