It's not a diving town
Having left the peace and quiet of Ayr this morning we've arrived in the hustle & bustle that is Airlie Beach. I can only equate it to what I remember Cairns being 9 years ago on our first visit, all the young beautiful people just lazy around topping up their tans.
Our attempt to book any type of diving from Airlie Beach this morning failed miserably, apparently the majority of the people only want to visit the islands and snorkel. So instead of staying here until Monday to get in some underwater fun, we're heading down the coast tomorrow. Exactly where we're heading hasn't been decided yet, it really depends how far we can drive in a day.
The place of Airlie Beach itself is very picturesque, even the drive from the Bruce Highway on the minor road was spectacular, we're just not used to hanging around all these young 'uns. Plus Wendy keeps noticing me staring at the girls in their string bikini's, time for a sharp exit ;o)
If we were into sailing, snorkeling or sitting on pristine sandy beaches, then this would be the place for us, but that's not our thing.
