Diving is off again
Even though the sun was shining this morning when we got up at 6.15, the diving was still cancelled due to strong winds out on the reef itself, so another day of trying to entertain ourselves.
Having seen much of the town yesterday whilst walking around in the rain, today we decided to hire a car and bimble up to Cape Tribulation & Port Douglas to look around. The drive up to Cape Tribulation was simply stunning once you got past the outskirts of Cairns. Lots of winding roads with the big hills on one side and the ocean on the other, excellent. Once in the rain forest nearer the Cape you started to come across more and more landslides causes by the past few days of rain. At one point I decided to take on a flooded bit of road in third gear, only to panic when it was a lot deeper than anticipated and almost coming to a spluttering halt right in the middle.
Luckily a quicky change down into 1st saved the day & stopped Wendy battering me.Even though there were signs everywhere, we failed to see a single Emu or Crocodile. Although when walking past a childrens playground by the beach in Port Douglas, there was a warning sign that crocs inhabit the area.....that's good planning then.
Due to popular demand, the meal report is back.
