The Arizona Memorial

The most memorable trip I have ever been on was to Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.  Going to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial is something I will never forget.  It is definetly a place I would recomend going to see a big piece of American and World history.  When you walk into the memorial it takes your breath away.  Then to see the Arizona directly below you, knowing that there are still so many men trapped down there is unsettling.  I was unable to even speak when I was there.  While I was there, a Japanese WWII vet was also there.  Just being there brought tears to his eyes.  But it was nice to see the respect that he showed for the lost souls.

At Pearl Harbor they also have the U.S.S. Missouri docked.  Although the Missouri wasn't at Pearl Harbor during the attack, it acts like the other book end for America's part in the war.  On the Missouri is where Japan officially surrendered to the U.S..  There is a plaque on the spot where the documents were signed to commemorate the occasion.

I highly recommend a visit to Pearl Harbor to everyone, especially any history buffs like me.
