The heart of the trip
November 19, 2008
This kind of signature .. I love you, I hate you, I'm bigger than you, I have more power than you, etc. .. Everywhere in the world!
And yes we did it to Pai today! Woke up not so early but we had to go. I thought 8 days are enough for the road trip to north but actually no. I was wrong again!! It's my country na?! But you have to plan very carefully about this, if no, you have to stay overnight in almost every city you go and maybe miss some places that you want to. I did my best because my plan was going to Chiangmai one night then two pai then to Maehongson and travel around then back home. But everything was changed because a lot of opinions to discuss :)
Maehongson is really great! But not in the city yes. We chose to go to Pai, the first city to step in. I've been there first time in 2005. If you're going to, you can find the useful (i hope) here http://www. travbuddy.com/travel-blogs/6224 This is my second time.
Since i'm travelling. Every trip is different. Even you go to the same place but the second time always different from the first time. If you're not changing but the city is changing. This time also. Guesthouses, pubs, shops, etc. I hope the people don't change but ... who knows? Yes (again) who knows? Anyway I know, some yes.
When I was there the first time .. Pai was really quiet. The city was famous before I arrived but the sudden flood took everything. I was in Pai when they were renuvating it. So not too many people even in December. I loved that. But Pai today, my friends who have been there after me, saying it was like a weekend market. Full of people and not so nice as before. I was there in November, thought Pai would be cold but it wasn't. So not too many people, maybe they know that it isn't cold yet so they don't go. Thai people who live in the Bangkok love the winter, I'm sure! As same as me!
The road to Pai isn't dangerous as I thought. We didn't drive fast. Last time we took about 3 hours by the van but this time we drove by ourselves so was just one hour and a half. Not that bad :) We stopped at the Mog Fah Waterfall. Great, we saw the waterfall. (sometimes you don't. because it's too hot, too dry) and we stopped in a few temples. But my heart was already arrived Pai. After the two companions finished photographing picutures, go go go! I don't wan to be in pai so late. There's a lot of thing to see :)
