We were thinking just to stop here for a few hours to take pictures in the temples in Sukhothai province but those fantastic sacred shrines stop us to stay overnight there!

From Mae Sot to Sukhothai isn't take long time especially by the expert driver, Ale. (I want to give him a credit even he doesn't come to read my blog haha or in fact he doesn't check TB for a while). Even he drives fast but he know the rythm of the road. I'm sure you'll be safe with him :) Also another credit for Staphane who had a lot of patient with us in this trip :D

Stephane told us to go straight on the one temple called Wat Sri Shoom.
Beautiful!
There's a nice big image of buddha inside. It isn't difficult to find a place if you follow the map and the sign :) (some places even the map saying "this way" but then it shows up "another way"!

Wat Sri Shoom was built more than 700 years. Sri shoom means "Bodhi tree area". Bodhi tree is the important tree for buddhist. There are a few stupas to see. And if you go to the front door, in front of you there's the huge  buddha image "pra atchana", the name. This image is almost 15 meters! My camera can't take a picture of the whole image, had to do little by little :) but was impressive. There were the other group of people come to take the same pictures - i bet they got the better shot than mine. Look at their lens and their cam, i had to hide my cannon in the back :) Stephane and Ale were enjoy taking every angle of the image.
Sukhothai historical park
I saw some pictures of this place in the website before coming here. There were no building in front of the Stupa of the image. But now they built, no I think they moved "this" and put it in the front. "This" is ... I think it was the house of monks but I've seen only the structure of the house.

I took some pictures, I think it's nice enough by this cam. I used to study in major photography. I used to have Nikon FM2 but after graduated, i got only the auto one :) For me, yes it's easy to take the pictures everywhere of everything you want to. My knowledge is already turn back to my teacher. F- Stop? I forgot! But if i have the big cam again, I'd like to have the one that use the film again. Digital cam has stop me to go to the photo shop and print them! Funny about the cam, my first digital one was sony - for me i don't like! The second one is Nikon - but I think Nikon is good for the big cam not the auto - digi small one.
Elephant sculptures - they protect the temple
Better with the film one, of course. The third one was canon ixus - was nice but I dropped coca cola on it, it's broken! Damn it! (sorry) The current one is Canon again because I love it but can't find the same model as the one before so I found this "canon E1" - i like the shape it's power shot. But Ixus is better than it a lot! Damn me! (sorry again)

Back to my trip, outside this temple there are a few artist selling their painitings, thai style. Ale fell in love with one of them. After bargain from 4500 to 3000THB, now it's still at my home! (he didn't bring it back yet). I'd like to take the picture of it to share here but I don't want to unwrap it. It was nice, artistic really!

Then we drove to Sukhothai Historical Park. There are two signs that confuse us. The National Park and the Historical Park.
Sukhothai historical park
We chose the Historical park first because we wanted to see the history of this city. And this is old sukhothai - Srisatchanalai city.  Not too many people there at that time. Just two groups of tourist. There are big - inside there are three temples to visit. We went to the first one "Wat Kao Panom Ploung", it's in the moutain. You have to walk upstairs. We call it "Silalang stair".

The stupas in this temple were really old land on the left side there is a warning sign saying "Don't get inside. The rocks can fall everytime". Oooh! Nothing much to see up here but the way to get in was tempting us to go to. But ok, if you focus on it, you will see it beautiful as well. The sukhothai architechure has their own identity. Each stupa has the different design.
Those cloths were tied up because of they believe in the spirit in a tree.
When I was in the school, i had to remember every design of Sukhothai architechure. But now .. i forgot :P Same as everything, I gave my knowledge back to my teacher again :D

There are the other two interesting temples inside Srisatchanalai city. The second one we went to is "Chang Lom temple". Chang means Elephant. Lom means surround. So this temple is surrounding by elephant sculptures :) It was really hot that day. I was on the top of the temple, alone. Ale and Stephane were still down there. When I walked around this temple, I felt something strange. I hoped nothing show up when I was walking then boo! :D The old french guy was just walking on the other side :P

I don't remember the name of the last temple in this old city but it's amazing us as same as the others. Too bad, some images were stolen. Some of them were cut the head off. Bad people stole it and sold it somewhere. These are the three main temples inside the Srisatchanalai wall. We agreed to move to eat then see something more before it's dawn. And we're hungry now!
