Our last day in Berlin

Like the other two days we started our day with a huge breakfast at our hotel. I can't tell you enough about how great that was! We went to Checkpoint Charlie after that. Actually, there isn't much to see there. The 'old' checkpoint isn't original i think and there are no remains of the Wall so the only original thing there is the sign that you enter the American part of Berlin (our hotel was in the Russian part). But the fact that you don't see a lot didn't really matter to me. To me it was the feeling i that mattered when you simply cross the former Wall. It is just so strange that we can walk where ever we want and that only 20 years ago people got shot here if they crossed illegally. At checkpoint Charlie there's a museum about the checkpoint.
Because we didn't have much time left before we had to go to the airport we we bought a ticket for a sightseeing bus. I know, it's very touristy etc. but i really liked being in that bus because we saw all the attractions we didn't see yet and most of all, it was warm in the bus! We drove by the Castle Charlottenburg and the Kurfurstendamm shopping street and we got out of the bus at the Gedachtniskirche. It was opened now so we could enjoy the beautiful mosaics inside. We hopped in the bus again and drove to the Potzdammer Platz and to checkpoint Charlie again. On the way to the checkpoint we saw some original remains of the Berlin Wall and i must tell you that was really impressive. I couldn't take pictures of it because i was in the bus but i got a good idea of the size of the Wall. There were many signs again of people who tried to flee and who are killed because of that. I'm so lucky to live in freedom!
