so i am finally up to date on my blog! boy its taken a while! and i still have some of marc's photos to add to the kakadu part! that can wait till alice i reckon!
so we've spent 4 nights in darwin, in luxury...ok, a bed! we went to the N.T. museum and art gallery (very informative and interesting!) then on to mindil beach night market. if you only do one thing in darwin this is it apparently. heaps of food stalls and art and craft stalls, as well as free entertainment as you walk around! various bands playing and circus people. so after trying various culinary delights and hanging around for a few hours (and maybe buying the odd present!) we decided it was time for some beer! from an actual pub!
on monday we did the lonely planet walk around darwin then wandered around the shops in the afternoon.
yesterday we drove to howard springs nature reserve just outside darwin. you can swim with massive barramundi (nearly a metre long!), heaps of turtles and various other fish. i stayed in the smaller area (only teensie fish!) most of the time as i was a big scaredy cat! i did venture into the springs once or twice but held tightly onto the ladder! nothing in there can hurt you but once you've seen the size of the fish its a little scary! marc borrowed a snorkel and mask and was well away but even he said you can see more from outside the water as its pretty murky.
its been a good few chilled out days before we head off roughing it again! speak to you again in alice springs!
