old melbourne gaol
saturdays seem to be my cultural day! i headed into the city to go to the old melbourne gaol. i spent 3 hours there! it was actually very interesting, its where ned kelly (among hundreds of others) were hanged. there was even a 2 man show about the ned kelly story and the connection with the gaol. they even have death masks including ned kellys! they are basically plaster casts of peoples heads after they've been hanged- grim, i know! the actual gaol was quite eerie also, dont think ive been in a prison before and it was a bit weird.
go into the city for the first time and have a completely free night! one of the girls had free entry and drinks tickets for the whole night! it was hard to get drunk (not that i wanted to of course!) because you had to queue up for so long to get the free drinks along with every other backpacker! a good night though.
