my first week
sorry its taken me so long to update blog, as many of you know i have my reasons!
so my first week was pretty good as far as jobs go. working and living at the pub is very chilled out. i went for a bike ride to explore the area- and it took all of 20 minutes! grass valley is even smaller than gravenhurst and with fewer houses! everybody is so friendly here and welcoming, its lovely. and my pommie bosses are just as nice and hospitable!
on the tuesday i got up at 6am to go sheep shearing with one of the local farmers, bruce (no, he's not married to shiela!). despite the early start it was a really interesting morning. they shear so fast. they do cut the sheep often which made me feel sad but apparently sheep have a much higher pain threshold and so dont feel the little nicks. you soon get used to it though! and i even had a go at shearing (the poor thing!). i only did a little bit, its harder than it looks!
friday night was pretty quiet only a few people in, including shane and tina. they own an olive farm and managed to rope me and ade into helping pick olives tommorrow!
