after an early start (6.30) we get to kings canyon by lunch time. we decide (and have been told) to do the 6km 3-4 hour walk rated difficult- yippee. the first part, pretty much vertical (ok, thats an exageration) is nicknamed heart attack hill. so as you can imagine its pretty steep. luckily i made it and after half hour or so of hiking over various sized rocks we were rewarded with amazing views at the top of kings canyon. the photos just dont do it justice.
as i am now a professional hiker the walk only took us 2 hours. and yes i was knackered! so of course i have a little snooze in the car. when i wake up marc points in the distance. why, its none other than uluru*! only its not. its mount conner that apparently a lot of (dim witted) people mistake for the rock. we drive on a bit to a road house/cattle station where we camped for the night. and joy of joys what pulls in not long after us? a massive bus full of school children!
*uluru in case you dont know is the aboriginal name for ayres rock. as the area was given back to them by the greedy government they have their own names for stuff. so from here on i will call it uluru, or THE ROCK!
