we decided to get up nice and early to take advantage of a free ranger walk around yellow water billabong. we saw some really cool wildlife- mostly stuff ive never seen before, for example, a jabiru, brolga, ibis, egret, white-bellied sea eagle, the list goes on!
we then went on a cruise around the billabong (its very big!) and saw heaps of crocs (the dangerous ones)- it was awesome. some of them were massive. when you see them in the wild its so much better than at a zoo. one of the crocs even snuck up on an unsuspecting duck, but luckily for the duck it got away! the guide who was telling us about the flora and fauna was an aboriginal lady (the park is aboriginal land leased by the government so the rangers and landowners work together)- it was really interesting.
in the afternoon we headed to anbangbang (nourlangie rock) where there is rock art.
then went for a walk around anbangbang billabong which was tiny compared to yellow water this morning. i was slightly scared (ok, a lot scared!) as you have to walk quite near the water in some parts and after seeing all those crocs this morning i was somewhat concerned about being snapped up! within kakadu there isnt really any safe place to swim because of the amount of crocs, and there are signs everywhere, so you can understand my concerns!
after coming out of the walk in one piece we headed to Jabiru for the night (stoopid computer doesnt recognise this place either! oh well, you'll just have to find a map!).
