so after managing to be showered and ready to leave at 7.45 we cant get hold of our idiot landlord to check out. after hanging around we decide to go get van and come back for stuff and check out. annoying as it means less time on the road, less time to get to twelve apostles.
after taking the bus the wrong way and getting on the bus going the right way we eventually get to the rental place to pick up the motorhome (who we call lola!). when i see what i have to drive i do poop my pants!!! its mahoosive! i manage to get out of the car park ok though so fingers crossed! and we have satellite navigation (fifi from now!).
so we finally set off just after midday (2 hours late!) and after cruising along (happily, im glad to say!) for 2 hours, singing loads and generally being girls getting excited, i get pulled over and breathalysed- my first ever time! of course i passed with flying colours (no kerry, i dont have pure alcohol in my blood!).
stop off at bells beach in torquay where they have the world surfing championships (or something!) but we had missed it by a couple of weeks! weather still nice and sunny so it looked great. carried on along the windy road through anglesea, aireys inlet and apollo bay- all really pretty seaside towns.
just make it to the twelve apostles in port campbell in time for sunset. although it would have been nice to see them in the sunshine it was still pretty amazing, i hope the pictures do it justice. we just about manage to get a few pics of loch ard gorge too.
drive another 10 mins or so to the tiny town of port campbell where we stay for the night. we find a car park (the only one i think!) right on the beach of the little cove. go for something to eat and then chill out in our new abode for the next 2 nights! have some bubbly to celebrate!
has been a wicked, exciting day, a shame we missed out on a couple of things (ottway fly treetop walk, other stop offs) because we had to make up time. drove 330km!!
