the bungle bungles

oh...my....god. we got up at 4.30am! we decided last night to drive to the entrance of the park and hopefully hitch a lift in with some lovely people who have space. after a short drive to the entrance after about an hour we managed to jump in a 4wd with a polish couple! lucky eh!

and im not kidding you when i say the road was rough. i felt nauseous! and it didnt help that the guy driving obviously didnt have much 4wd experience! it was extremely bumpy and we had to drive through a couple of floodways, one which was particularly scary. it was a rive that was still spread across the road!

it was well worth it though. we did a 2 and a half hour 'hike'. actually, it was a bit harder than straight forward walking so i guess it was a hike this time! we walked into Cathedral Gorge where, at the end is like an amphitheatre (and some shade!). we then walked back through it to Picaninny Creek Lookout. a bit harder walking but worth it as the views of the bungle bungles was ace. the pictures dont do it justice.

unfortunately the couple we were with had to head out so we didnt get time to see echidna chasm which is meant to be spectacular. but i reckon for a free day out ($9 park entry fee) we couldnt really complain!
