Pictures of a 6 hour trip to Indian Rocks Beach “The Happy Place”.
Beach, Boats, Birds & Bathing Suits just another Super Sunday in the SunShine State.
Legend has it that the community of Indian Rocks Beach reputedly got its name when a native medicine man that miraculously healed his chief with the waters from a natural sulfur spring believed to have been located in Kolb Park across from Indian Rocks Beach City Hall. Early settlers seeing the Indians on their way to the "rock encircled spring" would say, "The Indians are on their way to the rocks."
Indian Rocks still has a large number of the local family owned small rental units that can be rented without having to take out a second mortgage. More and more the beach on all the coast line of Florida are being filled with multi story condos affordable only by the very well TO DO!!
These concrete monstrosities are not only unaffordable for most people they block the beach view with their privacy fences & security guard shacks. Driving along Gulf Blvd you can’t even see the SKY in places.
I remember when you could drive or walk on large sections of the beach that you can’t even see anymore.
Ok OK I am off my Soap Box!!
Now a few words From the Indian Rocks Chamber of Commerce.
“Indian Rocks Beach (located in the Tampa Bay and Clearwater areas), initially developed in the 1920s as a weekend getaway destination for wealthy Tampa residents, boasts three miles of the friendliest beach located in Pinellas County.
“Indian Rocks Beach on the gulf coast of Florida is truly a "Little Piece of Heaven." The community's sensitivity to the environment, safe beaches, wonderful restaurants, and quaint hotels continues to make Indian Rocks Beach a favorite for seasonal guests.”

“Indian Rocks Beach is less than three miles along the Gulf of Mexico and, like its neighboring barrier islands, waterfront property faces either the Gulf or the Intracoastal Waterway. “
