In July of 2001, shortly before the September 11 terrorist attacks, I embarked on my first overseas journey -- to Rome, Italy. It was a 4-day trip hampered by nagging stomach problems and oppressive heat. But I managed to catch one disease for which there is no cure: the travel bug.
