Shaking and pale, we arrived to New Orleans, uffff
December 27, 2008
I have flown to New Orleans several times and every single time it was perfect, until... Our plane this time wasn't a big one, it was a small one, just for 50 people with 3 seats per road - 1 alone and 2 together. I was supposed to fly on First Class this time too, but there was no First Class here, ooops! So, I got a seat in the front part of the plane.
I was so sleepy that it didn't last long until I fall asleep, just needed to ask for a blanket to keep me warm. This flight was short and I was taking a pic of the sky when the flight attendant came. He found it so fun, that asked for my camera in order to take a pic of me, haha. At this point is when I started to feel the turbulences.
The landing started, but it was taking soooo long. It doesn't bother me at all, the thing that made me a bit nervous was the awful noise I was listening to. .. finally we landed. Land, land!!! I didn't want to make any comment about this to Osvaldo, because I didn't want him to make fun of me, but he was more scared than I, haha. I was just a bit worried and he was really scared, haha. He told me, it was one of the scariest flights in his life, and he's always flying by helicopter in the middle of the jungle. He just exclaimed: "The pilot was a woman!!!"
It was almost noon when we landed. NOLA's airport is small and I know it very well, hehe. So I was the perfect guide. Blair, my boss, was waiting for us - wearing a Cuzquena T-shirt. It was so nice to see him. After the hugs, we left the airport in our way to my hotel...

We are jazzed you are here - Louis Armstrong NOLA International Airport (MSY)
I have been several times at this airport and consider I know this airport quite well. Plus I have to say that I really like it. It’s not so big, but not too small either. I’ve arrived at night and also during the morning, leaving in the morning, noon or afternoon. And always had a good experience here.
I never had a long layover here, so I don’t know if they have interesting things to do inside. The 2 times I had to stay long I was busy claiming for my tax refund or chatting with a friend.
Ok, some facts about this airport:
-As I have already said, this is not a big airport to Customs and Security are really easy and fast.
-Louisiana offers a Tax Free policy and here you can find claim your taxes at the Tax Free Counter, which is open daily from 7am-6pm. They will need to make photocopies of your passport and if there’s a line, it could take a bit long. So be sure to have enough time for your flight.
-After going through security, there are not many shops and the restaurants are not the best. So if you want to have some Cajun food, do it before security. There’s an Acme Oyster’s there.
-People who are waiting for you can meet you before claiming your bags, which doesn’t happen in Lima for example.
-I found people working here very helpful.
-They also have a baggage storage on the lower level.
-Southwest airlines flies here, so you might be able to find a cheap ticket with them.
-And well you are in New Orleans, so the music you will listen as background might be Jazz!
I think they are right when they say: We are jazzed you are here! At least I feel this way ;)
