Getting ready to travel right after Christmas... tiring but exciting ;)
December 26, 2008
While I was relaxing in Machu Picchu a couple of weeks ago, I got some business calls. They needed me and my customer in the States and wanted to fly us ASAP to New Orleans, mmm. At least let us spending Christmas quiet with family, please... anyway. Last week was about finding the flight tickets and get our schedule ready. They wanted to fly me back to Lima thed 30th - arriving the 31st. No way! I contacted one of the coolest guys in Austin and he asked me: "why don't you spend NYE here, since I'd already be around?". How cool!!!
Mom wasn't too excited with the idea of me spending NYE in the States, but which would be the best way to end this full of travels year? I'd be away just for 1 week, but I had to pack formal clothes, plus party clothes, haha. It's summer in Lima, I'd miss the sun, so I got tanned in advance. In fact today before packing I was taking some sun, haha.
I woke up early, went to the gym, took some sun, packed all my stuff and went to get my nails done. Packing wasn't too complicated, the most difficult part was packing the boots... I didn't want to wear them while I was flying, so I stuffed them with clothes, haha. It's a good thing being small, hehe. Also I had to pack 2 bottles of pisco for my boss :) I always travel with Continental and like to check me online to do things faster at the airport. But this time I couldn't :( When it didn't work, I had a terrible flashback about the time I missed my flight... OMG! But this time I doublechecked everything, hehe.
By 6pm I was ready. So, I was just playing with Gunther, spending time with family and also talking to some friends since I wouldn't meet them until next year... and of course I had some Inca Kola :)
My flight was at 12:35pm, so I had to be at the airport at 9:35pm. I called a cab and they arrived at 9pm. The driver was a really nice guy. And it was hilarious we both were wearing a while shirt and a blue west, haha. I wanted to get a pic, but he was so shy... I arrived to the airport and met my customer there. We were doing the check in together in order to get seats next to each other.
When I asked the guy for it, he told me he couldn't do it. Why not? So, he said: "Well, miss Salazar, you are flying 1st class!" How sweet!!! I have been so busy adjusting flight details that I didn't check my ticket from LIM-New Orleans was a 1st class one, super!!! They gave me a pass for the VIP Lounge too, but I didn't use it. Osvaldo wasn't flying 1st class and didn't get this pass, so the least I could do was hanging out with him... I could not deny I was thinking about going into the lounge and get a drink, but a friend is a friend :)
