Photographing Gaudi
The "bridge week" had snuck up on me this year. Bridge week- or more correctly, vacation/accelerated learning week in Medical schools comes once in the spring and once in the fall to allow for students to transition between clinical and non-clinical blocks. At the beginning of my 4th year, our bridge week did not have any mandatory lectures...but I forgot about this. So a week after getting back from my rotation in Honduras (I'll write about this soon, I promise), I realized that I had a whole week to myself!! It's a true luxury.
I also thought that I didn't yet want to quit speaking Spanish full-time. So the choice of where to vacation began. My mom has been my most treasured travel agent, in the sense that she finds tickets to just about anywhere in hardly any time! We were sitting with our laptops surfing the internet trying to decide where to go. She wanted to do some photography, and I did too... so we had to pick something "scenic!"
We broke out our globus, but even before spinning and pointing at a random place we both looked at each other and said: "I want to go to Spain!" Ok... that helps. Where in Spain..? I've wanted to go to Barcelona, and my mom agreed that Gaudi would be amazing to see there. And I wanted to see Picasso and the Dali museums. And so it was set. We were going to Barcelona!
