A Day in Mondello
I took the 806 from Piazza Politeama to the sleepy, cute village of Mondello. It was 9AM and the shops were still closed, only the fisherman were there coming back with the morning's catch..and everything smelled of the sea. The boats bobbed by the shore showing off their red, whites, and blues, and it was tempting to jump in off the pier. But I didn't and only took in the colors by taking lots of pictures. I walked around the main square and soon people started piling into the center town, coming out of the woodwork almost. Many older couples strolled along the local verson of 'Malecon' holding hands, making the scenery that much more serene.
I started walking toward the left most side of the beach and discovered a hut that had free maps. I looked at one and decided to go toward Monte Gallo. I didn't get to walk far as the road ended in a private resort. I sat on the igneous rocks here and just watched the waves splash and the fisherman reel in their catch on the other side of the bay. Soon after, the sun started getting higher and Monte Pellegrino evolved out of the mist. I walked along the beach in that direction, and kept going, and going... Soon came across the road the C. Colombo, which I followed along the small part of land that jutted out into the sea. It was tricky walking along what looked like a highway, but I finally made it via __Addaura (now remembered the name!)_____________ and then back to Palermo as the rain started coming down. I was drenched. Took out my waterproof bag to hide my camera, and found a safe place on the side of the road where a large tree was overhanging. The rain soon passed and I ran along the way, trying to avoid major puddles or cars hitting those major puddles.
