Clinic Day 3
Today was a half day of clinic for us. Although we were all ready and eager to see more patients, it turned out that today was an auspicious day for the village. Twice a year, the parents send a delegation who commute to el Progresso to pick up the government allocated money for their kids' schooling. We could see whole groups of them on backs of trucks heading out of the village.
As a result, clinic was pretty slow. On the other hand it was great to have a change of pace, and after a leisurely lunch we got into our bathing suits and Medardo gave us a ride to River Quemada...down approximately 1500 feet from the mountain. It was a hairy ride on the back of a pickup truck for us! And we also gave a lift to a couple of women and their kids, which made wedging into the trucks back a bit easier.
We had an amazing swim amongst the waterfalls, but had to call it a day a bit early because of the ominous clouds.. and just in time...the skies opened up when we came back to the village.
In a couple of days we'll be pulling up anchor and Erin, Suzanne and I would rejoin the rest of our group in San Jose while the West Virginia group heads home.
