Portofino is a beautiful small Italian fishing village located in the province of Genoa on the Italian Riviera. In town are beautiful small and big buildings it is crowded round its small harbour. It is one of the most beautiful Mediterranean ports I have seen.

Parking is limited in town so you are better off to park outside! I did not know that so we were in a queue for about 1 hour before we were allowed to drive in. It is controlled by a traffic light very different but I guess the only way - you cannot drive through the town and you have to come the same way back out. parking - of course - is not cheap. Better get a bike or walk! ;-)

We walked around the town and had a look in a few shops - really nice and a lot of nik nak to buy. Later on we went up to the Castello Brown and had a great view from up there - that is where I took most of the pictures.

The Castello Brown castle is well suited for harbor defense. According to the Record Office of Genoa, cannon batteries were constructed on the site in the early 1500s. The resultant castello was completed by 1557.

We spent about 4 hours in Portofino - had to pay a nice parking fee after but what the ..... I really liked the place - it was well worth a visit!!
