Rock of Cashel, Ireland

The real date on this journal entry should read June 6, 2005

On one of a very few hills in this part of Ireland sits this amazing bit of history.  You can easily tell why this was cherished by Kings.  Although only about two hundred feet tall this small hill became a very important spot. Kings knew the advantage of the “high ground” and built structures early. A church and later a cathedral were built here during the 13th century.  Today, only ruins remain except for one 90 foot tall tower and a large number of grave markers including some tall Victorian style monuments.
