Going Solo

Surakarta Travel Blog › entry 9 of 10 › view all entries

At last the holiday comes. This end of the year my family plans to go to Yogyakarta. Since we didn't get the train tickets, so we will drive there ;-) Hope everything is okay [I cross my finger] The result: it was an unforgettable experience because of several things.... One of them was driving the car with broken brake!!!

An Art Deco Boutique Hotel
Roemahkoe is the old spelling of Rumahku, means My House. I got the information about Roemahkoe from the internet. Then I read its review in a woman magazine. I also fall in love at the first sight with this hotel. Why? Because of its architecture.

When I stepped into the hotel, I was amazed by the interior of the lobby. It was very obvious that it was touched by a talented designer. What might bother me was the photographs of the owner with famous guests. The owner is the wife of one of the ex ministers in Indonesia.

I like almost all the things in this hotel, the architecture of the building, the interior, the gallery concept, and the traditional music. What I like the most was the welcome drink. It was a traditional remedy or jamu. No hotel in the world (I think) serves jamu as a welcome drink.

One thing that I don't like from this hotel was the the front desk staff. It seemed that he didn't feel that he has to be friendly and helpful to the guests. He really ruined my love to this hotel. Too bad... :-(

It is John. And it is not expensive. If you go to Yogyakarta, don't forget to go to Solo (Surakarta) as well and stay at this hotel. Forget the not too friendly hotel staff and enjoy the atmosphere ;-)

Yoi, kalo gak salah 400 ribuan deh. Kalo saya suka banget di sini. Solo lebih teratur dari pada Yogya.
