I'm Dreaming of a Hawaiian Christmas

If I had my way, I would fly south every winter with the birds. There's a lot of hype about snow during the holidays, but I've always been much more of an equatorial person. Right now I am looking out of the window at the damp and cold and dreaming of sun and palm trees and mai tais in two days.

Mele Kalikimaka is the the thing to say
On a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day
That's the island greeting that we send to you
From the land where palm trees sway
Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright
The sun will shine by day and all the stars at night
Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaii's way
To say, "Merry Christmas to you."

I don't know if it will always be sunny and "bright" during my trip because most weather forecasts I checked are predicting a little rain each day. Even if it does rain, I am still looking forward to the warmer temperature and the tropical greenery. I have been getting suggestions about what to do from Big Island natives and frequent visitors. The top two activities seem to be Volcanoes National Park and kayaking in a bay where the dolphins swim around you.

December 21st is the day I joined TravBuddy two years ago. Happy TravBuddyversary to me!
