After a terrific TravBuddy sightseeing adventure in
We had a wacky time finding our hotel, but we eventually checked into the Emily Morgan.
Architect Ralph Cameron designed the 13-story tower which began construction in 1924. The Emily Morgan sits directly north of the Alamo. It has reinforced concrete with glazed terra cotta at the three lower and three upper stories with light colored brick on the other floors. The building's distinctive form and ornamentation were influenced by the Gothic revival that was the fashionable mode for skyscrapers nationwide in the 1920s.

Later, we strolled two blocks along the beautiful Riverwalk decked out in its Christmas glory, and continued the fabulous festivities at Acapulco Sam's.

In November 2008, Polly Esthers transformed itself into Acapulco Sam's. The place features multiple floors of entertainment. After getting revved up at Howl at the Moon, we spent most of the evening on the first floor's Havana Mojito Bar dancing to its salsa, Latino beat.
