A Quick Visit to Aachen and the Cathedral
On the hunt for another UNESCO site....the cathedral in Aachen Germany! Sadly, I was still recovering from being quite sick and ended up not feeling very well on our drive to Aachen, as well as while we were exploring. The Brett Brett got us a bit lost on what was supposed to be a really short walk to the cathedral from the car, but uh yeah.....we ended up quite a distance from where we needed to be! LOL.
The Aachen Cathedral was erected in 786 AD upon the orders of Charlemagne. His remains can be seen as he was interred in the cathedral. The cathedral has extended throughout the years, making it a very intriguing building. Some of the highlights to see include the exterior facade, the Palantine Chapel and its treasures, and the Gothic Choir.
Hopefully I can go back and visit again when I feel better, especially so I can see where Charlemagne is buried!
