we'll fast forward to a few years later, no one knows except the both of us.
December 25, 2008
today was christmas, and what could be better celebrating christmas with the person who is so close to my heart. my best friend.
connie and me were best friends since we were 13 year olds. i remember vividly how we met, but i couldnt translate it to write in english, but i was the first one to approach her. eversince, from 1st year until 4th year highschool, we always eat lunch and recess, together with other friends, but we go home together, as we have the same direction. it was an unmatchable friendship, as we grew older we had different sets of friends in highschool and sat apart from each other, the growing pains of adolescent years, but we still remain the best of friends. she was always the best, honors, medals, best grades, teachers favorite and i was just in the shadows but i was so proud and happy for her achievements.
but despite her, being the goody goody, ok ok ok, i know connie, you will hate for that and im sure you'll strangle me, hahaha. she was the best partner for mall ratting! every christmas, withouth a glitch we spend time with each other. its our tradition. it was only broken when i moved to europe.
but that tradition was back again. alive and kicking!
when i met her, she was still the same, we are still the same, as though i havent been gone far and for years. eventhough, i was so far from here, and having not enough communication, there's this invisible magic thread that connects us in our spirits, my cosmic sister.
we havent aged in our hearts, i still see us, as two thirteen year old children.
so we decided, this christmas day to go malling! we spent the first part of the afternoon buying shoes for her daughter, anya at a mall nearest to us. i am so excited to meet her daughter!
i changed some of the euros left, i dont want to withdraw cash and carry my atm card around, as it was christmas time and lots of pickpockets roam the city.
then we ate in my mum's favorite noddle house and her favorite noodle soup, which is called batchoy. batchoy orginated where my mum came from in the philippines, in the central islands. the soup broth is made of boiled beef, pigs and chicken's bones, then the noodles is topped with crispy pork skin, fried garlic, spring onions and pork.
i was very satisfied eating it, it was as ever delicious.
we goofed around the mall as we used to and made sarcastic remarks on the people and snort on the displays of the shops. hahahhahahaaha.
after our little escapade at the mall we went to connie's home, and to finally see anya - my godchild.
at connie's house i met her parents! oh my god! my nanay and tatay! (nanay is the word for mother and tatay for father in tagalog) they were like my 2nd parents for me, specially nanay, eventhough we seldom see each other, this is my second home.
now i met anya, oh my such a snobby little girl! hahaha she doenst want me to hold or touch her! OK FINE! hahaha, we hang out there for a while, and catch up on nanay and tatay, prying on each other's lives. hahahaha.
then connie and me decided to continue mall ratting part 2. we will go to the mall of asia, since i am fascinated with the view of the sea from the mall.
as we about to leave the house, well we have to pass a little alley to get out, the neighbor's dog was there and barking madly at me. good ting it was on a leash, as i came closer that fucking dog almost bit me and i shouted! hahahaha i screamed at connie telling to get that bloody dog out from me! hahaha but it was no use, the dog was fucking wild, i swear i saw drool from its mouth and ready to pounce me. ok, i had many incidents that i almost died, and i pretty much like them, but getting bitten by a dog and die because of rabbies was not pretty. as the bloody dog about to lunge at me again i fucking screamed and barged into the other neighbor's door, it was pretty hilarious as we barged into the house, they were watching tv and they looked at us open mouthed. hahahaha it was straight out a film! then we went outside through their house laughing as hard as we could.
i love my life. i wouldnt trade it for anything.
at the mall of asia, it was fucking unbelievable, so many people! people spending their hard earned money this christmas for shopping. there wasnt even a space to move!
so we went up to the terrace, it was so full of people to and amazingly went in to the same restaurant cafe i was in the first time, jamie the kitchen manager never failed to be my servant - again! hahahaha. we ordered pizza, spicy chicken croquets and chicken masala and had my mango juice!
apparently there was an acoustic night in the terrace and a band was performing. to be onest, it was the most boring band ive seen in my entire life, playing cover songs with a bland performance, i wish theyve couldve played rock lobster that night! hahahahaha poor band as me and connie made sarcastic comments behind their back.
at 11 pm, it was unbelievable as the mall was still open and lots of shoppers are still into malling, but i was so tired and i have to prepare myself physically as in two days i will be flying back home. i am already dreading the long flight! arrrrggghhh.
me and connie said goodybe to each other, i was very very very happy to see her again. things havent changed, and i like to keep it that way.
